Southern Idaho will soon be filled with thousands of music lovers from all across the United States. The first annual "Highway 30 Music Festival" will be taking place at the Twin Falls Fairgrounds June 13-14. Amongst party-goers, families and music lovers will be some local Idaho celebrities who happen to be amazingly talented and equally hilarious.
For more than 60 years and three generations, the Idaho native Braun family has been rocking stages all across the United States. In the 1950s you could find family patriarch, Musty Braun, jamming out in rural Weiser during the final days of legalized gambling in Idaho.
Musty's sons; Gary, Billie and Muzzie, then followed in their father's footsteps and performed as "The Braun Brothers" all over Idaho. Each brother continued with their music career, specifically Muzzie who had four sons; Cody, Willy, Micky and Gary, who hit the road and performed as "Muzzie Braun and the Boys". They played a multitude of stages including Nashville's Grand Ole Opry and even appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
Willy and Cody then formed the band "Reckless Kelly" while brothers Micky and Gary formed "Micky and the Motorcars", both based in Austin, Texas. While you can catch many of the Braun's performing all across the United States, Southern Idaho will soon be flooded with talented Idaho Brauns, among other amazing performers.
Inspired by Muzzie's passion for music, close family friend, Gordy Schroeder, has organized several Braun-themed festivals including the popular "Sorry for Partying" festival in Fairfield, Idaho. After a visit to beautiful Stanley, Idaho with Gary Braun from MMC, Gordy decided to put on another amazing concert-series. "Highway 30 Music Festival" was born and artists interested in performing started flooding in.
Tickets for this two-day extravaganza can be purchased online through Sunday the 8th or at the gates for an additional charge. 15 amazing bands will perform including: Micky and the Motorcars, Little Texas, Clumsy Lovers, Buster Jiggs, George DeVore and Gary and Cindy Braun. There are sure to be surprise performers as well.
Event coordinators have ensured the Hwy 30 Music Festival will have something for everyone. A beer and wine garden will be available for thirsty music lovers, face-painting stations and a rock-climbing wall will keep the little ones entertained and shade trees will be scattered around to keep you cool. There will be a wide assortment of food and merchandise vendors and entertaining Braun stories are sure to fill the air.
Camping spots are still available and located about 100 yards from the venue. For upgraded accommodations, the Shiloh Inn has paired with Hwy 30 to offer discounted rates and shuttles to and from the venue. If you love good food, great music and amazing performers this is an event you cannot miss.
